Bee & Thistle 89 Baker St. Maplewood, NJ 07040 Rush Rush - Figure 5 shows a chair with a rush seat. The rush material used is sometimes natural reed material that is twisted as it is woven into a seat. Much more often, the rush material is actually twisted kraft paper which is more durable and much less labor intensive when replacing a seat. At the Bee & Thistle we use the twisted kraft rush material. Although it is sometimes possible to obtain chairs with natural rush seats, they usually come from outside the US where the labor is cheaper. Re-rushing with natural rush is very expensive.
